FROM THE GM

X

As we prepare for another golf season, I wanted to provide an update at Enger Park Golf Course.

This has been an unprecedented spring with record-low snow totals and we understand golfers want to get out as soon as possible. However, we must ensure we are good stewards of the golf course while making sound business and operating decisions.

To satisfy the demand for golf during this early season, we have the driving range open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily – with the understanding that hours will be adjusted based on the weather conditions. We have implemented a 40-degree rule for both ambient temperature and wind chill. We will open and/or close the driving range if either of those temperatures dip below 40 degrees.

The course will remain closed until we are comfortable it can sustain play without incurring turf damage.

Clubhouse hours are currently 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., and hours may vary based on current operating conditions and weekends. We will expand hours as conditions improve.

Irrigation renovation progress

The irrigation replacement project has been underway since last fall. The main retention pond has been reconfigured and #18 on the Middle nine has been re-shaped. The contractor’s plan is to begin work on or around April 1 and to install new infrastructure on the Middle, Back, and Front nines in that order. Each nine’s completion is projected to take 8-10 weeks.

Additionally, the Department of Natural Resources will be performing creek restoration work this season and will coordinate their work with the contractor to minimize golf course conflicts.

Superintendent Josh Krause does not expect any significant winter turf damage on the greens and is looking forward to warming weather and soil temps rising. His team removed dead trees throughout the course and repaired the cart path culvert bumps on #4.

We appreciate your patience as we work through the construction this season. There will be 18 holes available for golfers throughout the season and we aim to have construction completed this year.

Stop by the clubhouse to get your 2024 Annual or Skyline Pass. We look forward to a fun and exciting 2024 season and hope to see you soon.
